Comprehensive First Aid Course

This Comprehensive First Aid Course is designed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge to provide effective first aid in both public settings and the workplace. Covering a wide range of critical topics, the course ensures learners are prepared to handle diverse emergency situations with confidence.

Key Learning Outcomes

  1. Understanding the Role of a First Aider: Responsibilities include infection prevention, accurate incident recording, and stress management after an incident.
  2. Assessing Emergency Situations: Conducting scene and casualty surveys to identify risks and prioritise necessary actions.
  3. Responding to Unresponsive Casualties: Administering CPR and using Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Placing casualties in the recovery position and continuously monitoring their condition.
  4. Managing Choking Incidents: Recognising choking signs and providing appropriate first aid, including back blows and abdominal thrusts.
  5. Handling External Bleeding and Shock: Assessing bleeding severity and applying first aid for both minor and life-threatening bleeding. Recognising and treating shock, with a focus on hypovolaemic shock.
  6. Dealing with Minor Injuries: First aid techniques for small wounds, bruises, splinters, nosebleeds, and minor burns/scalds.

Practical Learning

Throughout the course, participants will engage in practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises, such as simulated CPR on a manikin, to ensure they can confidently apply their knowledge in real-life situations.

By the end of the course, learners will have the confidence and skills needed to provide critical first aid, making them valuable assets in any workplace or public setting.

Assessment Methods

There are no formal assessments for this course.

Certification

Participants will receive a Skills Training Group CPR & AED Certificate. For those requiring a workplace certification, the Emergency First Aid at Work Course is recommended.
